The Institute of Private Law

The Institute of Private Law is the one of the leading non-government civil law research organization in Russia.

The researches of the Institute of Private Law are supervised by professor Sergey Alekseev, an outstanding Russian scholar, one of the drafters of the Russian Constitution 1993 and the Russian Civil Code 1994, a corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Law.

The Institute of Private Law is headed by Sergey Stepanov, Doctor of Law.

Many of the staff members, correspondents and all the experts of the Institute have the degrees of Candidate of Science or Doctor of Science in the sphere of Russian civil law[1].

The Institute has published more than 60 books on civil law, scientific journals are publishing .

The Institute has close ties with legal and educational organizations around the world, including such countries as China, the USA, India, Italy, Holland, Finland, Costa Rica.

For more than 15 years the Arbitration court has been acted as a part of the Institute of Private law, possessing reputation of just and impartial arbiter. 

Apart from research activity, the Institute of Private Law provides legal advice and legal expertise for commercial organizations on the most difficult and complicated questions of implementing the Russian legislation. The Institute is a legal advisor JSC "Federal Grid Company of Unified Energy System" (Moscow), JSC "Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works" (Magnitogorsk) and others.
